MLK Jr. Celebration (January) Hosted annually by the CASF-V in partnership with the faith-based community, the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is a morning-long series of connected events that kicks off at 8:15 am at Fuquay-Varina Middle School with a march through downtown Fuquay-Varina to a local church (location rotates every two years). At the end of the march, participants are treated to a fellowship breakfast – the food for which is donated by many local restaurants. Following the breakfast is an ecumenical celebration service in the sanctuary of the host church that includes song, dramatic recitation, prayer, readings, and a number of other celebratory activities. The winners of the essay contest for local middle and high school students will be recognized during the service as well. This event is a much-anticipated event every year and attendance grows as our population grows. Please consider joining us this year and see what it’s all about!
